The Perkinstown Tramp

The “Tramp,” as it has come to be known, began in 1993 when it occurred to Doug Pinkston and Ken Kraft that a) snowshoeing was still a thing, and b) there weren’t any snowshoe races as far as they knew. The inaugural tramp had about 80 participants, and it grew each year to an all-time high of 173.

Though oversight of the race has changed hands over the years, the spirit has remained the same: Give people of all ages an excuse to get outside during the coldest time of the year.
