What To Wear

What Should You Wear To The Perkinstown Snowshoe Race?
There are three basic things you want to consider in your decisions about to
wear. Are you single, lonely, and ... - just kidding.
Seriously, the event has three basic activities: pre race, race, and post
race.
Pre Race
The morning prior to the race is always a bit cold - sometimes real cold.
Although the race area has some heated shelter at the Chalet and in our tent, most of your time in Perkinstown will
be outside. For the most part, you will be experiencing whatever the outside temperatures
are. Check out the forecast before coming up to
Perkinstown and dress
appropriately.

Weather Forecast
Race
During the race, you won't need as many clothes because your body will be
generating heat - a lot of heat if you are snowshoeing aerobically.
Layering of clothes is a good thing to do. As you warm up, you can take
off as many layers as you need to stay comfortable.

Post Race
After the race, you will need to change out of your sweaty race clothes and
get into something that will keep you warm. Wet clothes will make you
feel very cold and accelerate heat loss so please come prepared with a change
of clothes if you will be participating in the day's events.
The Chalet and Our Tent
The Perkinstown Winter
Sports Area has a
heated chalet that participants and observers can use. In addition, a
large heated tent will also be on site and is also available to those
participating or watching the events. Again,
remember you will be outside a good part of the time. If the forecast is
for “cold" temperatures, we want you to be prepared but also know there are
some heated areas available.
Check out the "Checklist"
for a complete list.
